Tell makers what you need. Pick the one you like.

Hire a Maker connects you with independent UK makers for one-off and small-batch jobs. It’s free for customers, and there’s no commission on either side.

Getting something made

  1. Post a request, free

Sign in with a link sent to your email, then tell us what you need. Add sizes, colours, quantity and any text, plus up to 4 photos or sketches. No design skills or 3D files needed.

  2. Matching makers are alerted

Makers who do that craft and cover your area, or post UK-wide, get an email about your request. If you want to collect or need someone nearby, choose “Local makers only”.

  3. Compare replies

Makers reply through private messages on the site with ideas, prices and timings. Look at their profiles and photos of past work, and ask questions before you decide.

  4. Agree the job directly

Confirm the details, price, payment and delivery with the maker you choose. Hire a Maker doesn’t take payments or a cut, so you pay the maker directly.

Prefer to choose a maker yourself? Browse makers by craft and postcode and message them from their profile. Our guide to briefing a maker shows what to include for accurate quotes.

For makers

  1. Create your profile

Add your crafts, your area, how you deliver and photos of your work. We check every profile before it goes live.

  2. Get matching requests

We email you when a customer posts a request in your crafts that fits your area and delivery settings.

  3. Reply and keep what you earn

Quote in your own words and agree the job directly. Plans are a flat monthly fee with no commission, and the Listed plan is free.
